Many of us are familiar with Siri – Apple’s virtual assistant who’s found in their iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and HomePod operating systems. Now it’s being found in a new location: The Resound hearing aid will be the first smart hearing aid to use AI and Siri together. This means that soon you’ll be able to say things like, “Hey Siri, stream iTunes through my hearing aid.” Of course, this is only one of the many things you’ll be able to do when your smart hearing aid uses AI to pair with Siri.
What to Expect
There’s a growing field of gadgets that will transform the health care industry as we know it – smart hearing aids are only one of the many examples here. Once these devices take hold, people with hearing impairment will be drawn even further into the digital world. This is because the Resound hearing aid uses AI to learn your preferences and settings. Over time, it’ll be able to proactively make adjustments for you in your sound profile. For instance, you can set up voice commands to have Siri change profiles for you (e.g. turn up the volume in your right ear).
Now that the Resound hearing aid is paired with an app, you’ll have a variety of ways in which you can tweak your hearing aid’s settings. Not only will you be able to control the volume, you can also do things like:
- Tweak noise cancellation
- Reduce background noise
- Stream phone calls, music, and TV
- Change settings (e.g. turn the volume up or down)
- Change profiles to suit your mood and needs
These are all things you can control with your voice so you won’t even need to pick up your phone and use the app itself. While all of it is currently available on Apple’s Siri, Android users don’t have anything to worry about: There’s “rumors” that Google Android is being worked on and isn’t far behind. This is certainly good news for Android users.
How it all Works
Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are used here. These batteries can charge themselves within the device’s case in just three hours. Once charged, your hearing aid will last for up to 30 hours. This is great news because you’ll never have to worry about swapping out batteries.
Where to get Your new Hearing Aid
You can get the Resound hearing aid from a health care professional. Its price ranges from $2,500 – $3,000 per ear. However, you should remember that the device should last for 5 – 6 years before the battery will become less efficient. This honestly isn’t much different from the lifespan of any other hearing aid.
Now that you know more about the Resound hearing aid, you may have one question remaining: Where can I buy it so I can start using it too? The good news is that the Countryside Hearing Aid Service has it available. Many clients have been very happy with their new hearing aid and the service they’ve received. You owe it to yourself to be next.
